New York New York Big City Of Dreams...
But everything in New York a'int always what it seems...hahaha! I had a BLAST! Where to begin...I got in around 11am on Saturday and I called Julia. She told me that we were meeting at Erika's hotel where Elke would be doing eyebrows then we would all be walking over to Bryant Park for the MAC event. Yayyyy! Okay so, other than Julia, Elke and Erika, I finally got to meet Shannon of Makeup Minute (and many other blogs...lol), and Ellen from Lipstick Powder & Paint. I also got a hold of these beautiful illustrations that they had all over the booth that are true collectors items. They were done for MAC
When we got to the front door it was INSANELY CRAZY like a wall of people. But we were rushed right in
by Heather Park from MAC. When we got there...someone that I have been dying to catch up with for ages, Bianca Alexander from MAC was there to give us the 411 on all the trends for spring. Bianca and I go waaaaay back. She used to work at the MAC counter when I worked for Lancome back in 1993!! So I was excited to see her. She is now the Director of Makeup Artistry in North America and she had all kinds of tips and tricks for us.
The Rundown:
- MAC's false Lashes are being redone by a celebrity lash designer. They will have a clear band and the lengths will be shorter with an emphasis on the center instead of the cat eyed look.
- Brows are softer. Gone are the over tweezed, over penciled brows. If you have thin brows - grow em in! The look is clean, soft and full.
- For the face - emphasis is on great skin and the finishes you will see will be somewhere in between matte and dewy. Mineralize Skinfinish Natural which was once limited edition will now be a part of the permanent collection. This powder is PERFECT for creating the glowing skin described by Bianca.
- Black eyeliner will be a staple. Bianca said, "Every woman need to know how to use one..." The liner doesn't even have to be pure black you can use a softer black if you think it looks too harsh or if you are fair skinned.
- Taupe has become a staple shadow color for all over and detail areas like the crease
- Lips are glossy and NUDE - no bright colors just subtle.
It seems like the emphasis is all about the eyes for spring ladies! In addition - Bianca kept making many references to Mia Farrow (a la Rosemary's Baby) and Jerry Hall from the 70's. While we were in the tents we got to see fashionistas and celebs alike rushing in to see the shows. Later it was off to lunch around the corner -at Jack's we took over...LOL. We chatted about trends and hung out for a bit. Then it was back home and off to dinner with a PR rep from Lancome (that is another post entirely...lol)
I should have all of my pics uploaded and have more for your tomorrow. I met so many great people (and made some pretty amazing contacts too)!
Stay Pretty!!
