Trend Watch: Bright 80's Makeup Colors - They're Baaaaccckk!!
Okay...I have been there TRUST ME!!! LOL! When you are old enough to see a trend come back around it is a very strange feeling. Wake me up before you go go please....LOL. I am not sure how I feel about this whole 80's day-glo resurgence but I am rolling with it because that is the nature of the beast I guess. Everything at one point or another was a "throwback", just please please leave the flashdance sweatshirts at home thanks. I blame Rihanna for the comeback!! I must admit it looks amazing on her...the look reminds me of the girl in the Stray Cats's Sexy & Seventeen video circa 1983. FIERCE...
How to Wear It: I would do one or the other...don't do nails, eyes and lips together AT ALL. take one shade and do it big like Rihanna above. And although I have seen Ms. Rihanna do nails and lips in what can only be described now as her signature fuschia shade, I would still hang back and stick with one bright. Like Joan Cusack said in Working Girl..."Sometimes I sing and dance around the house in my underwear, Doesn't make me Madonna. Never will." Keep it simple ladies.
Some of my favorites for this look:
Three Custom Color Lipsticks in Light Bright any of these brights will do the trick. The pigment is bright but it is blended into a balm like base so you don't have that "lipsticky" feel. Plus I love how they are named after clubs I used to go to in college!!!! UPDATE: just got a head's up from 3Custom Color that these shades will be available in gloss form next week...FAB!
Clarins Sun Lip Balm SPF 6 in Bikini Bikini bright but sheer...
L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in Sea Fleur First of all, I can't believe that they even still make this color! I first wore this in 1983...it's a classic way to get this look for under $10.
Dashing Diva Bubblegum Betty Nail Lacquer Bright blue and sparkly...great for a mani or pedi.
MAC Neo Sci-Fi Plasma Blu Nail Lacquer Seriously get this before it's gone (already sold out on MAC's website).
Bourjois Metallic Eyeliner in Cinquant Blue brilliant metallic blue liner - loads of long lasting color and it's waterproof!
Dior Addict Lipstick in Infra Rose BAD ASS fuschia pink..wear it if you dare...
Yves Saint Laurent 'Ombres Quadrilumières' Eye Shadow Quartet in #'s 2, 3 or 5 shadow with great staying power and fun colors.
Benefit BadGal Blue mascara makes the whites of your eyes pop and looks really cool in the sunlight too.
Zoya nail lacquer in Lianne you know I HAD to add this one to the list right???? Tangerine metallic nail lacquer.

Yeah! Now this is a trend I can get behind. I love bright colors that really pop. I'm so sick of the drabness that's been in the makeup industry for the last decade or so.

Yeah, Yeah! I'm glad somebody finally addressed this trend for us..huh-um..."more seasoned" beauty addicts....I SO want to rock this look........maybe at night...(but then again you know how often I get out for a night out on the town....like, Never....)
