Celebrity Makeup: Rihanna at the BET Awards...
I am so sick of everyone hating on Rihanna! Nobody gets her...they really don't (check out the comments over at Just Jared). People just don't understand, they are just not ready. She is on this whole other level - her style is funky, avant garde and VERY 80's. The dress she was wearing during her performance (which she killed by the way) was an Alexander McQueen couture gown that reminded me of this. Hey I had a crinoline too back in the day!!! Keep ALL of YOUR CLOTHES ladies everything always comes back.
Now onto the makeup - I was talking to Julia on the phone the other night and she explained to me that I HAD to see it (I normally skip the BET awards because it is so chock full of foolery) so I caught the re-run last night and while there was plenty of foolery (Hello??? T-Pain please go sit down someplace...bahhh) it was worth it to see the look which was in a word SICK. The shadow can only be described as "pigment layered on top of pigment" (Thanks JuJu...LOL) Most young celebrities her age are definitely NOT interested in wearing $50,000 couture gowns.
Now this is definitely not a look for everyday but if you appreciate makeup artistry like I do...it was very nice to see.
Stay Pretty!!

I love it. The eye makeup is sure fire! I must find out what it is. I must.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Rihanna and always look forward to seeing red carpet and performance photos of her. She pushes the envelope and ROCKS IT!
We need more people like her...confident trendsetters who aren't afraid to be different. Remember a few years ago when everyone was arguing whether Britney or Christina was the new Madonna? Well, stylewise, look who snuck up on them...

Hey KK!!
You are SO RIGHT. That is exactly what happened...she has eclipsed everyone in her "age range" style wise for REAL.

Did you take a survey on "most black girl's" interests? Or is that just your ignorance showing?

Rising Phoenix...
I am laughing out loud at your comment for real. Have you checked the "About Me" section? Have you seen my photo?? I think you need to do your homework before you run around leaving nasty comments about people being ignorant.
Let me re-phrase and CLARIFY my post just for you. AS A BLACK WOMAN who was at one time a black girl I can testify first hand that YES most black girls do not dress in an avant garde fashion. And to be honest I was speaking about her peers (aka Britney, Christina etc.) and young black CELEBRITIES NOT BLACK GIRLS IN GENERAL. You can bet money that they won't be wearing a dress like that. Now of course that's just MY OPINION from first hand experience but then again, you already knew that didn't you.

Wow..
Rising Phoenix I think that YOUR COMMENT was pretty ignorant if you ask me ummm she's black so I think she would know some things. Let's not turn this into a 'let's hate on lianne' post shall we and get back to the topic at hand which is Rihanna!!
I think Rihanna is so talented and her makeup fire!! So there!

I love Rihanna's style...on some of the forums people are always hating on her style!! I don't get it!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her style. I think people with no style or prefer to play it safe hate on Rihanna. Her makeup artist Mylah Morales does an excellent job.
What's up with the ignorant comment...I think it is pretty ignorant to come on somone else's blog with craziness. If you don't like the blog then why waste your time rising whoever.....get a life.

I'm with you Makeup Girl - I love Rih Rih's style! I think she's one of those girls who dress for girls rather than guys...do you know what I mean? Like Jessica Simpson dresses for boys, but folks like Chloe Sevigny not so much. Rihanna is in the latter category.

Love the site, though I have never commented. I had to on this one. OMG your right!! Rihanna is the new Jody Watley! People didn't like Jody's style or singing back in the days but she was very successfull and guys loved her. I remember my brother and his friends going crazy for Jody one day while watching a video. Now tell me that ain't miss Rihanna.

i have really been loving her style over the last several months...first, she took such a risk (and nailed it!) by chopping off her hair. i love that she is purposely trying to NOT look like every other pop star. she is very talented and she stands out EVEN MORE with the makeup and fashion choices she makes! :)

Ok, Ok.. I used to be a Rihanna hater but please forgive me - I love her now!
I can't get enough of her music and her new collabo with Adam Levine of Maroon 5 is HOT HOT!! Just like her makeup here - thanks for the closeup :D

Rihanna is looking extremely gorgeous. She has a unique style and trend of her own. Both her voice and look are unique.
