Okay...now I know some people are gonna slam me for this because honestly there are just some people out there that think Botox is wrong. I for one, am not one of those people. If you are a regular reader, you know I have ALWAYS talked about wanting to get Botox, frankly I never shut up about it. That being said, let me say this now and get it out of the way. I got Botox because I am going to be 42 in the spring and I felt like I needed to start preventative measures against the giant condor that appears across my forehead when I have animated conversations. And if you know me at all, an animated conversation happens pretty much all the time. For me, creams and serums just weren't cutting it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE skin care...I am a skin care advocate, I just think that FOR ME...I needed something more.
Okay now that's out of the way....lets get on with my treatment! I arrived at the office and had to sign consent forms, etc etc etc. I met Dr. Paul Ruff, who asked me a few questions about my knowledge of Botox and if I knew anyone that had it before. He asked me briefly about my medical history and told me that I had great skin like buttah (I love you Dr. Ruff...LOL). He then told me that my skin was thin and that thin skin was less susceptible to deep wrinkles (yayyy me!) and that I was a perfect candidate for the procedure so that made me feel good.
After my little chat with the doctor, he was ready to get started. So with his RN Mina looking on (she normally does the injections from what I understand), he got to work. He had me make all kinds of faces...scowls, frowns etc. and then with the tiniest needle I have ever seen or felt, he injected 34 units of Botox all over my forehead. He noticed that one of my brows was more pronounced than the other so that was a nice catch on his part. He told me that I should continue to attempt and make my faces because in Dr. Ruff's words, "Botox is like a smart bomb, the more facial movements you make after your injections, the easier it will find it's way to the areas it is intended for." The needle did not hurt, in fact I would describe it as uncomfortable more than anything. I had NO reaction at the injection sites and the only instructions I was given was to remain upright for 4 hours, no hot showers, steams or saunas for the rest of the day and that was it. Took all of 15 minutes from start to finish.
I won't see full results until sometime next week, but I took before photos and I will take my afters on Wednesday of next week so you guys can see the difference. Already I am finding it difficult to move or make my faces...but I am TRYING! I want the smart bomb to work...LOL.

Oh wow. Can't wait for the before and after pics. I'm in the DC area so I'll keep that name in mind, for sure.
