Big News: I Have Been Named Beauty Editor at Clutch Magazine's Fuchsia...

Logofuchsia Hey y'all I have some big news that I have been sitting on for a while now. I have been named Beauty Editor of at Clutch Magazine's new Beauty destination, Fuchsia.  I had only told family and close friends but now I can share it will all of you as it was just finalized this past weekend.

I have known Deanna (DeDe) Sutton for two years now.  She is a visionary and I have learned so much from watching her grow her own site.  I am so happy and thrilled to be a part of her team.  I will STILL most definitely be writing TheMakeupGirl so don't fret!!  This is just in addition, so TMG readers can come visit me over there and vice-versa.  I want to thank each and every one of my readers for supporting me on my journey thus far.

In case you didn't know, Clutch Magazine has become one of the leading online magazines for multicultural women ages 18-34.

    How To: Sultry Holiday Look...

Viva La Lauren!!  I met up with my favorite fashionista this past Saturday, Lauren Messiah of Ask Fashion Kitty to help her with a new signature makeup look.  In case you didn't know, Lauren is THE authority on anything & everything fashion.  She is an up and coming stylist in Los Angeles so watch out Rachel Zoe!!

Anyway, we hit up the MAC store that just happened to be in a local mall (SO crowded, why god!!) and got some amazing stuff. She wanted a dramatic look so I knew we were going for something dark and smokey.  We built a look around the color blue and decided on paint pots (for longevity) which are FANTASTIC almost like a cream pigment.  One thing you do have to know about paint pots or creamy shadows in general is that you MUST put a powder on top to set it otherwise it can slip or fade.

Lauren picked out some shades she liked, then we went back to home to get to work.

After I spot covered, concealed and powdered her face, I started out with Delft paint pot by the lash line (applied with a MAC #239 brush) (will you look at her lashes!?? Those are natural and she STILL wants falsies)

    5 Things About Lianne...

At the end of the post, the player tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves a comment, letting them know they've been tagged and asking them to read your blog. I was tagged by Kitya of Mischo Beauty...

    1. What were you doing 10 years ago?

HA!  I had just moved to the DC Metro area in '97..I was a new mother and working as a regional makeup artist at Nordstrom for Lancome!

    2. What are 5 things on my to-do list for today? (and don't be bowled over with excitement over these...LOL)

    • Take my son to the skate park
    • Work out
    • Writing a few entries for TheMakeupGirl
    • Laundry
    • Organizing all my crap (I seriously need to have a yard sale or at the very least sell some things on eBay!

    3. Snacks I enjoy:

    • Popcorn
    • Sesame sticks
    • Apples
    • Dried fruit

    4. Places I've lived:

    • Nashville

    5. Things I'd do if I were a billionaire:

Oh goodness...I would give money to Alzheimer's and breast cancer research for sure.  I would start a non profit foundation of some kind for music education.  Invest..invest...invest!  Buy homes in Manhattan, Miami and one for my parents wherever they wanted and figure out ways to make them "green". And last but not least...I would travel..seriously I would never be at home EVER....LOL.

I won't be tagging anyone (if I do they will kill me...LOL)  So TMG readers PLEASE have fun and participate in the comments below!

Get This: Pre-Order The Zoya Chit Chat Collection...

Hey babies!  Remember when I told you about the nail polish Zoya is naming after me?  The Zoya Chit Chat Collection is named after top beauty bloggers and  will be available for summer 2008 shortly but it can also be pre-ordered now on the Zoya Website.

    Zp_chitchat_index

One of the best things about Zoya Polishes is that they are free of toxic Toluene, Formaldehyde and DBP, they are the longest wearing natural nail polishes available.  So if you are pregnant or if you are one who practices or is thinking about a natural lifestyle these are great for you.

Zoya Nail Polish is the brainchild of Zoya Reyzis who, as a pregnant aesthetician and salon owner in 1984, realized the need for a healthier and more durable solution. Today, Zoya Nail Polish is available at the finest salons and spa's worldwide and frequently receives top ratings in fashion, health, and pregnancy magazines world wide. When asked why they chose Zoya Nail Polish, most people say " Incredible Color Selection" and "...amazing wear ...nothing compares on manicures and pedicures..."

    Chitchat

All of the polishes are available separately OR in a Clear plastic sampler box that has all six shades in 0.5 oz bottles.  So get your self some Lianne (ultra tangerine metallic), Erika (soft pink metallic, Gaia (hip white metallic), Bekka (cool chartreuse metallic),, Annie (bold berry metallic) and Elke (hot rose metallic) for summer!
