Get This: Clairol Perfect 10 Haircolor...

I admit it...I dye my hair.  It started out as just a fun thing to do, now its is necessity!! Now that I am dying more often, I look for certain things in a home hair color as I certainly can't afford to go and get it done every 6 weeks.

1. Hair color that isn't "flat"... I hate for my hair to look like someone colored it with a marker.
2. Gray coverage...I don't have a lot but I don't want to see it pop out in 3 weeks either.
3. Gentle formula...My hair is fragile enough as it is so I don't need for it to look fried.

Clairol Perfect 10 Haircolor does all of those things PLUS you get 6 weeks of weekly conditioning to keep your hair shiny.  The comb applicator was tricky to use at first BUT once I got the hang of it, it worked perfectly.  I LOVED that it didn't drip either.  The best thing of all though was that it worked in 10 minutes flat.  Not only did it work in 10 minutes BUT it covered everything.  The shade I used what Chocolate Shake (yummy...LOL).  Ugh...look at those roots!! There is no excuse for that kind of foolishness....

Okay y'all it's time!  Happy New Year!!  2008 is coming to a close and it has been a great year in beauty.  There have definitely been some hits and misses BUT I have compiled my list of my top must haves (I DEFINITELY couldn;t narrow it to 10 or even 20!!) from 2008.

Bobbi Brown Metallics LOVE these shadows, if only for the fact that you can make your own palette but they last last last.
Clarins Bright Plus HP Intensive Brightening Mask Great pick me up for dry skin or skin that is looking a bit dull
Chanel Haute Chocolat Nail Lacquer My all time favorite polish of the year....deep chocolate brown with gold dust...perfection.
Suave Daily Exfoliating Bodywash Fantastic bodywash, great for everyday, and at under $3 you can get two.
NARS Super Orgasm & The Multiple in Orgasm This color really does look great on everyone and now there is a multiple AND the super version which is just pumped up with a little more shimmer (how bad can that be??)
Aveda Hand Relief One of the best hand creams I have found, hands still moisturized even after excessive hand washing.
Bobbi Brown Brights Palette Just look at it....how could you NOT want it??  Perfection for spring or anytime you need a little punch of color.
Philosophy's When Hope is Not Enough Body Lotion More like a serum than a lotion to me....I use it under my body lotion/cream.
Suki Intense Brightening Cream Great "green" line that I discovered, the brightening cream transformed a rough patch I had on my cheek into smooth silk.

Get This: Philosophy's When Hope Is Not Enough Replenishing Body Lotion...

Is the skin on your body irritated?  Mine is...know why?  Because it is so cold here (17 degrees) and I KNOW I shouldn't be taking scalding hot showers but I can't help it, I'm freezing.  So what to do?  Normally I slather on cream, oil, whatever.  However, with my skin being so dry, it never lasts.  So I am figuring out that just like your face, sometimes your body needs a little boost from a serum too.  Although Philosophy's latest, When Hope Is Not Enough is classified as a "replenishing body lotion"  it acts like a serum to me.

It contains properties of omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acids to restore and condition dry, irritated skin. It has a light scent (nice...) and multiple antioxidants/peptides to protect the skin from stress.  I have been using it UNDER my body cream and I have noticed a difference in the texture and dryness level over the last few weeks.

So although I know I should give up the hot showers, this will keep me from drying out.

Get This: Suki Intensive Complexion Brightening Cream...

Hello chicas!! I am SO excited to tell you about a skin care line that I discovered when I was in New York for Fashion Week this past September.  Suki is a line that is 100% organic and they have done their homework!  I love how it smells but more importantly how it makes my skin FEEL.  One product that stands out from the line for me is the Intensive Complexion Brightening Cream. 

When I test skin care, I usually like to give it at least 3 weeks to really see if there are indeed results.  With this product I noticed results the SAME DAY.  Let me explain...The weather here in DC has been strange to say the least.  80 degrees one day and 43 the next, so my skin which is usually normal to dry has been all over the place.  Last week, I noticed some extra dry patches on my cheeks (which I never get), so I exfoliated...that made it worse.  So I am digging through my stuff trying to find something gentle and hopefully as natural as possible as to not aggravate the area even more.  I came across the Suki brightening cream, why not I figure....can't get any worse.  I applied it all over my face concentrating on my little patches.  The cream (which is really more like a lotion/serum) was very light and smelled great.  Later in the day (I applied it at 9am) I felt my face and was so shocked I had to run to the mirror.  Please believe me when I tell you, within 4 HOURS the redness was gone and the dry patches were softened, so I kept using it.  Within two days the dry patches were gone COMPLETELY.  I am certain that has to do with the chamomile and calendula which are known for their soothing properties, but what blew me away was how fast it happened.  I have NEVER found anything that I can put on my skin for a true "skin issue" that works on the same day EVER.

So  I have a few more items to test from this line and I will try and get that done ASAP.  If you have any skin issues (dry patches, sun damaged & uneven skin tone, discoloration, rosacea) guve this a try, I PROMISE you won't be sorry.  I also used it under my eyes as it is super gentle.

Get This: Suave Daily Exfoliating Body Wash...

Ooooohh you are gonna LOVE this!  While I was in L.A. last week I had an opportunity to try some Suave products.  Now...I will try anything once and while I have tried Suave products in the past, I never actually knew the extent of the line...until now.  I had NO idea that Suave had been around for over 70 years and that they have over 300 products! 

Anyway...Suave Daily Exfoliating Body Wash is my new fave.  And you want to know why??  It is a multi-tasker (cleanser/exfoliator) gets the job done, smells great AND it's under $4.00.  And in this crappy economy...even TheMakeupGirl is cutting back on some things.

This has little crushed apricot seeds and smells like coconut and now that it's getting cooler I love that because it reminds me of the beach.  It also has this really pretty gold shimmer to it (unfortunately it doesn't stay on bahhhh!) but I love it.  And you know what...since it's under $4.00 I can buy as many as I want.

Get This: Tricia Sawyer Starlets...

Here I am in Vegas, up WAAAAYY earlier than I need to be (my buddies saw me online and told me to go to sleep...I did!  I just got up too early LOL)  I got a package from Sephora before I left and of course I brought it with me! My package had a number of things in it but what I was most excited about was Tricia Sawyer's Starlets.  Get it...Starlet...Vegas.  Okay gimme a break like I said - it's early! LOL.

If you don't know about Ms. Sawyer, you should!  I have been following her FOREVER.  She is a Hollywood makeup artist who is responsible for the good looks of several starlets on the silver screen.  Slowly, over the past two years she has been building her brand starting with her online tips videos, just a few products here and there for a makeup line and more recently her Tricia Sawyer Studio School.  Then she got picked up by QVC and it was OVAH! 

Starlets is a soft focus luminescent powder housed in a jar with a sponge tip applicator.  It comes in three shades and adds instant brightess and a pop of color to your cheeks.  I love these kind of applicators because you can actually buff it into your skin!  This method of application gives you an extremely soft look.  I LOVE the shades Naked and Ambitious, I brought Naked with me to Vegas since it is more bronzey gold and nothing looks better in Vegas than Gold.
