I admit it...I dye my hair.  It started out as just a fun thing to do, now its is necessity!! Now that I am dying more often, I look for certain things in a home hair color as I certainly can't afford to go and get it done every 6 weeks.

1. Hair color that isn't "flat"... I hate for my hair to look like someone colored it with a marker.
2. Gray coverage...I don't have a lot but I don't want to see it pop out in 3 weeks either.
3. Gentle formula...My hair is fragile enough as it is so I don't need for it to look fried.

Drugstore Diva: John Frieda Straight Answer..

Okay so last week, it was raining SO MUCH that I thought I would wash away.  In addition, on Friday...it was just misting which is even worse because no matter what I do that means I will look like a chia-pet.  Well not this time dang it!  On Friday, I decided I would try a new product by John Frieda called Straight Answer.  It's a blow-dry spray that you apply when you hair is wet for de-frizzing, and the best part of all??  It's under $7. 

What I noticed the most about it was the fact that it had virtually no crunch factor which I loved!  My hair was soft and actually pretty shiny which is unusual because most blow dry/no frizz sprays dry your hair out (alcohol...).  Now since I had already washed my hair,  I used i on my hair dry.  I just sprayed it section by section and got out the big round brush and blew each section out.

Please believe me when I tell you that my hair was basically smooth all day.  Now since it was windy I didn't escape all of the water/humidity damage but It wasn't for lack of trying or that the product failed.  I am quite confident that if it weren't windy I would have been just fine.  Can't wait to try it out in the summer.  You can pick up John Frieda's Straight Answer at major drugstore retailers nationwide.

Okay girls...if you are in the NYC area run don't walk over to the Ted Gibson salon on 5th Avenue.  I had the honor of meeting Ted last week at NY Fashion week and he is an absolute DOLL!  My hair was saved my DJ - a stylist at the salon.  He took my dry puffy, rain on hair and turned it into a sleek blown out shiny dream.

The "cut-a-thon"  will take 100% of the money raised to benefit Carbon Zero (green and cute...how can you resist??)  Read on...

On Sunday September 21^st, Ted Gibson Salon will be hosting its 3^rd annual cut-a-thon to benefit Carbon Zero, and offset the company's carbon dioxide emissions.

Have you noticed that all of a sudden L'Oreal Vive Pro has a whole mess of shampoos and conditioners out now??  Well I have, and I have managed to try just about all of them.  I love a good bargain just as much as the next girl, especially when they really do the job like a pricey one.  Five different lines to choose from (even one for men!) you are bound to find one that will work for you.

Get This: Michelle Obama's Hair at the DNC...

If you were watching the Democratic National Convention this week, you saw Michelle Obama's hair which looked more shiny and swingy than EVER.  Which prompted me to think, "Has Michelle started going to a Dominican salon??"  (Brown girls know the virtues of the Dominican Salon, and if you don't know...you betta ask somebody!) Hmmmm...I was intrigued.  Not because her hair looked bad before, but because it looked so much BETTER.  She totally stepped her game up.  I started poking around online and found a fantastic interview by Bella Sugar with her Hairstylist, Johnny Wright of Frederick Fekkai.

Johnny flat irons her hair under with a ceramic iron and then uses shea butter based products to keep her hair shiny and moisturized.  Johnny said, "I use the Shea Butter conditioner from Fekkai and Glossing Cream. It really keeps the hair moisturized. Also the Fekkai Coiff Anti-Frizz creme is excellent for de-frizzing. It's probably one of my favorite products."

Making a note to get to Sephora and pick those two products up to give them a test drive!

Drugstore Diva: Sunsilk Anti-Flat...

Is your hair fine and lacks volume??  Well I think I have a solution for you! Sunsilk Anti-Flat will turn blah into bounce!  My hair is VERY fine so I can definitely use some help in the volume department.  I know I talk about luxury shampoos/conditioners a lot but it is always good to have a drugstore go-to in your arsenal.  I love Sunsilk for both the quality and the value.  Plus, I fimd that I need to switch it up every so often because my hair will get used to a shampoo/conditioner after a while.

The shampoo lathers well and does a good job of getting out all of the styling gunk I put into my hair just to get it to lay down and act right (especially in the summer!).  The conditioner is light and great at detangling in the shower (I keep a comb in there so I can really get the conditioner worked in).  I also really like the styling cream (called plumping cream...WTF does hair actually get plump?? The marketing people are killing me with these buzz words!!) I use about a nickel's worth and work that through my hair before I blowdry  Gives me a good amount of volume without using anything else which is great because I haven't really used hair spray since 1987.

Sunsilk Anti-Flat also has a mousse and volmizing spray in the line and is available at drugstores nationwide.

Hello Darlings!!  Okay so here is the scoop.  I am hosting a hair coloring party sponsored by L'Oreal Feria in August.  They have re-formulated Feria and I want YOU to help me test it out, and review it....all while sipping a few cocktails and nibbling on some munchies!  I will be taking photos and doing a few videos as well (don't worry, if you don't want your face on the internet we can just shoot the back so we can see the hair color)
