    Bronze Goddess...

Sunburst Looking for a soft bronze look for the warmer weather but your skin is still a bit pale??  Try this new look from Tarte cosmetics. They have come out with this revolutionary moisturizer called Sunburst that has bronzing beads that are encapsulated in the moisturizer and burst on contact with skin, delivering exactly the right dose of sun-burnished glow. It’s oil-free so it won’t clog pores and the water-resistant formula is sure to beat the heat!  The result is a soft bronze blow that is never orange.  I have been wearing it for the past few weeks and I loooove it!

I adore the cheek stains so for this look, you can top it with the Bronze Goddess for a nice healthy glow and finish with Inside Out Gloss in Liquid Sunshine.  Your face will have that healthy glow without the orange-y look you get from a self tanner when you are still a bit pale.  Ease into the look - instead of going straight for the self tanner bottle!

    Spring Has Sprung...

Narsshadow If you listened to me last fall, your toes should be in good shape for the upcoming sandal season.  Colors are looking bright and cheery in the makeup area and although I can't do that Proenza Pink everyone is talking about (looked like pepto bismol on me...lol), I will do rosier pinks which are more flattering for my skin tone.  One of my favorite lines, NARS has some great offerings for a nice warm spring look.

Warm up your cheeks and lips with this delightful duo from NARS called Deep Throat and Striptease.  Those names just crack me up but the colors are amazing...on just about all skin tones.  The gloss is a shimmery nude color that looks like candlelight.  The blush is a warm shimmery peach shade.  Divine!

Also I am completely mad for a few items from their new Charmed collection for spring.  The cream shadow duo is a must have for the warmer months when makeup tends to slide off as it gets hotter.  The colors are shimmery and soft platinum and gold, and the formula is a cream to powder so it has great staying power.  The shadow duos have two new colors called Habanera and Sugarland...both are gorgeous but I love love love Sugarland.  Lastly, You all know that I love a good nude lipstick and although NARS has many already this new one is called Corinthe is a creamy rich warm brown that will look great on lighter and darker skinned women alike.

Oooh lala - Stila Plumping Lip Glaze...

Stila_plump Stila has jumped on the lip plumping bandwagon and come out with Plumping Lip Glaze.  A smaller, chubbier version of the lip glaze that I love, the plumping version is the breed of plumpers that don't hurt (yaaaay!!).

By using marine collagen spheres, vitamins A and C with shea butter for added moisture, these glosses keep lips plumped, soft and sexy with no burning irritation (nice).  And you gotta love that they stuck with the click pen packaging they are so famous for.

They come in 6 shades and all are minty and feel great.  I picked up 3 yummy shades...cherry mint, vanilla mint and minty mint.  Retails for $24 at Sephora.

    Bobbi Brown Violet...

Bobbib_violet I have never been a huge fan of pink or violet anything near the eyes...Bobbi has changed my thinking.  The new limited edition Bobbi Brown Violet palette has everything that you need to create a lovely spring look.  The colors are far more subdued than they look in the palette, trust me on that one.

The little mirrored palette contains 3 shadows (shown on the left side) the violet shade is a shimmer wash so it is very light, 3 glosses..,one creme and two shimmer (shown on the right) and a GAWGUS baby violet powder blush smack dab in the middle.

Now brown girls, I know what you are thinking..."That's too pink for me..." NO IT ISN'T...  Even though the palette is named Violet...I would categorize these colors are warm and rosey.  They are very wearable and have no hint of chalkiness whatsoever.

If you are interested in giving the colors a whirl, go check it out.  Have a Bobbi artist work their magic and show you all the different ways to wear it.  Both Julia and I have been trying not to use ours so that we will have something left for spring!

    Spring Looks For Eyes...

Cherub Now that winter is upon us and we are all freezing our tootsies (with the exception of California and Florida...curse you!!) I am starting to think of springtime palettes for eyes.  I always like fresh color but because I am a brown girl, I have to be careful of the tones...don't want to come off looking chalky!  Actually, now that you mention it, chalky isn't a good look even on the lightest skintones.  I have a few palettes on my radar that I am really feeling...

Lancome Color Design Pop Cherub Gucci Westman, Lancôme’s International Artistic Director, has created these FAB 5-color palettes with shades from soft pastels to romantic earth tones.  These shadows are super smooth, wearable and blend very easily.  I really liked Sweetie-Pie and Honey Bun, they come in 3 different color choices.

SmashBox Tokidoki in Modela I wasn't crazy about these shadows when I first saw them but once I tried this one, I really liked it.  The colors really work well as I have tried it on a variety of skin tones thus far.

Dior 5-Color Eyeshadow in Beige Massai Oh so perfect for a nude look!!!  Dior shadows are incredibly long lasting and these colors are perfect for day or night.  I have experimented with this palette and added a darker chocolate shade for a smokey eye and it looked FAB.

Dear God: Please Let Me Look This Good When I am 66...

RaquelOkay...I know, I know.  Raquel has been ahem "freshened" but dammit...I don't care.  There are PLENTY of ladies out there that have been "freshened" that don't look this good...seriously.  At any rate...I went out to see the MAC Raquel Icon collection up close and of course I loooove it.  My picks for the collection (which I am now in possession of...lol) are:

Amazon Eyes Palette One word GAWGUS.  I liked both of the palettes but I favor this one because of the plum shade...I will get more use out of this one.

Lipstick  I love all the colors with the exception of Vegas Volt...too orangey for me.  Picked up Legendary and Screen Queen.

Lip Glass ANY of them...seriously any but I got Adventuresome and Vital Spark.

Powder Blush Love love love the peachy one called Goddess.

So if you haven't seen it yet...run and take a look it's FAB.  Next up on my radar is MAC Barbie..can't wait for that one.

    MAC ATTACK: New Goodies...

Mac_conceal I heard all about MAC's new collection called Danse, and while I don't personally care for most of the colors, I picked some up for my clients anyway.  The colors are beautiful, and I think that if paired with other colors they would work on everyone - I have to play around with them to see.  I do like the lip glasses (those always work, even if they are too light...you can mix them with something else).  The shadows were nice as well, again..I would pair them with something else because when you put them all together they come off kinda chalky even on lighter skin...they need something to warm them up.

On to what I loved, Studio Finish Conceal Palette SPF 35.  Love it love it love IT!  4 color ranges  with three shades each...mix to your heart's content to cover blemishes, tattoos...whatever.  Also...one stop shop because when you get tan in the summer, add a little dab of the darker shade to the mix and you have a custom concealer for the summer months.

Chrome & Creme high impact shine limited edition Chrome Glass shades and new shades in the CremeStick Liner. My favorite shades in the chrome glass are Bronzibar, Pulsesetter and Metalphysical.  The look is intense and super shiny like metal but totally fun.  The cremestick liner is one of my faves because it needs no sharpening.  My picks there for the new shades are Sweet Brown, Deep Soul and Naked Rose.

On another note, MAC has several products going bye-bye, so if you are a fan of any of the items on this list...get em before they are gone.

    All In One Place...

Shimmerbrickandlip_1 I am all about consolidation...and this compact certainly does the job.  This is new from Bobbi Brown for the holidays, the Shimmer Brick and Lip kit contains four exclusive lip shades (only available in this kit, and the bottom tier holds a full size Bronze Shimmer Brick ....FULL SIZE??  Be still my heart.  I wasn't crazy about the shimmer brick at first...it seemed a little too glittery for me.  I bought the brownie one a while back, then I played around with the application methods and now I love it.

The trick is to lightly sweep all the way across the colors (that way you can control how much color is on the brush...you can add more but it is harder to take color away once it's on) or for more definition, I use a shadow brush for the lighter shades on my brow bone.  The bronze shade is beautiful on any skin tone and the lip colors are neutral but can go from day to night with the addition of a darker lip liner.
