Fall 2008: Smashbox Wicked Lovely...

New for fall from Smashbox is the Wicked Lovely collection, as we have seen with other Fall 2008 collections the emphasis is on smokey plums and grays which suits me just fine!

I am all over the Cream Liner/Loose Shimmer combo "Three sultry cream liners and a sparkling loose shimmer in one mirrored pot! The liners provide totally customizable eye definition that doesn’t flake, run or tug. This mistake-proof formula is a great tool for the perfect smoky eye, and is ultra-blendable to create a range of eye looks! The loose shimmer provides the finishing touch for wickedly lovely eyes."  Sounds FAB to me!!  Also in this collection are three limited edition glosses (with leather tassels no  less....LOL), a double ended lip pencil, blush and two shadow duos.

I would have liked to see more lippies but that's the way it goes sometimes...sigh.

Smashbox: Maintain Your Focus...

I am REALLY big on tinted moisturizers of any kind because I don't wear foundation...BUT I like the look that it gives just not the way it feels.  The latest one I am obsessed with is Smashbox Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer.  This is a lightweight feeling product that gives fairly good coverage (I used it under my eyes with really good results) and powdered on top and it looks FANTASTIC.  The formula contains a citrus/honey combination, as well as vitamins C and E to offer protection against free radicals and anti-aging peptides to improve elasticity.

It feels a bit tingly when you apply (I am guessing from the citrus-honey combo) it absorbs oil quite well and to top it all off...UVA/UVB SPF 15 added to guard against future sun damage.  Comes in 5 shades (I am medium), you only need a small amount (like the size of a dime) to cover your entire face.  TMG tip:  to get more coverage, use this OVER the Photo Finish primer (one of my all time favorite primers), then powder on top and you will get a more foundation like finish.

Green Beauty: Smashbox Luminizing Primer...

Green beauty is popping up everywhere!  It's nice to see cosmetic companies taking an interest in the environment and how outside influences affect our skin and the world around us.  You may have seen my post on Smashbox's 2-in-1 color gloss from their Green Room line.  The Green Room line is one of the first major cosmetic lines that is environmentally-friendly and the packaging is recyclable.

The Hybrid 2-in1 Luminizing Primer is an absolute delight!  I am already a huge fan of the Smashbox primer and this one takes it a step further by putting a pinkish bronzey luminizer in the special 2-in-one tube surrounded by the primer.  So with every squeeze, you get luminizer and primer.  This can be worn alone for a really nice natural glow or under foundation/powder.  The primer will increase the longevity of your foundation if you choose to use it that way.

You may recall last year when I was obsessing over the Smashbox Master Class Set.  Well they have done it again (as if you could improve on the original...)  The newest version is an update of the limited edition 7 piece kit that is only available at Sephora.  Like it's predecessor, Smashbox Master Class Part 2:  Special Effects contains tips and tricks from Smashbox Studios makeup artist Patrick Tumey on an easy to follow DVD...but the contents of the kit are markedly  different.

Get This: Smashbox O-Glow Lip Gloss...

Stop the presses!!  I was in Sephora yesterday and WHAT??  Smashbox has O-Glow for lips now??  You know I am such a fool for lip gloss so I grabbed one!  It was actually really nice looking...a really soft glossy pink.  For those unfamiliar, O-Glow started out as a clear gel that you use on your cheeks (I put it on my lips too...ha!  Now I don't have to!) it contains what is called a microcirculating Goji Berry-C Complex™, In layman's terms it claims to stimulate your circulation and you are supposed to get a shade of pink all your own.  I love the o-glow for cheeks, though some thought it was too bright - it worked well for my skintone.  I tried the gloss on my mom and it did look different on her than me so score for Smashbox!

Smashingly Beautiful...

Smashbox has come out with this limited edition of sheer and beautifully versatile glosses.  I can honestly say that I love each and every color in this set - which is never true for me.  I am always giving a number of glosses away whenever I buy a "set" with multiple shades.  Not so here...

Light Speed Lip gloss Collection comes with 6 shades ranging from brown to pink and each one looks great alone or layered over your favorite lipstick or liner.  The glosses are light and not sticky but still have some wear built in.  The best way to ensure the gloss lasts is to layer, but if you are like me....you love gloss and could care less if it lasts...LOL.  This set is a $90 value if all  the glosses were purchased separately and would make a great holiday gift or stocking stuffer.  Or be a scrooge and get it for yourself...LOL.

Flushed Look...

Many of you sent me emails asking for an alternative to the Smashbox O-Glow I posted about the other day.  Some of you said you tried it and it looked way too pink, too bright etc etc.  I can see how this product may not work on extremely fair skin.  Kristen over at Beauty Addict said, "For This Girl, O-Glow=Day Glo..." Yikes!!  Well not to fear ladies, there is a solution.

Tarte's Cheek Stain. This one is a water based gel stick that pushes up like candy.  Comes in 7 different shades and they alll have a subtle fruity scent too.  My favorites are Ticked, Flush and Blushing Bride.

Another alternative is Smashbox's sheer cheek tint called Skin Tint.  Although the colors look slightly frightening in the tube, they are actually extremely sheer.  The stick is water based and contains vitamins A, C, E, aloe, and echinacea to nourish skin while creating that flushed look that is so popular without being overdone.  I like Ultraviolet, Infrared and Heat.

Either one of these will give you a subtle flushed look without going overboard...
