Hello 2009!!!  Are you awake??  Are you feeling okay?? Are you eating your black eyed Peas??  Nana always told me that if I ate them on New Years day, it would bring me luck.  Not only that, but she also told me that for every pea I ate was equal to a dollar from the heavens.  So what did I do??  Honey you know i was a black eyed pea eating FOOL!  I even swallowed them when I got tired.

First of all, let me say that I appreciate all of the love and support that all of you have given me over the past 3 years - seriously I couldn't have done it without you!  I am so incredibly blessed and elated to have you all in my lives and that TheMakeupGirl is a part of your daily regimen.

Big News: I Have Been Named Beauty Editor at Clutch Magazine's Fuchsia...

Hey y'all I have some big news that I have been sitting on for a while now. I have been named Beauty Editor of at Clutch Magazine's new Beauty destination, Fuchsia.  I had only told family and close friends but now I can share it will all of you as it was just finalized this past weekend.

I have known Deanna (DeDe) Sutton for two years now.  She is a visionary and I have learned so much from watching her grow her own site.  I am so happy and thrilled to be a part of her team.  I will STILL most definitely be writing TheMakeupGirl so don't fret!!  This is just in addition, so TMG readers can come visit me over there and vice-versa.  I want to thank each and every one of my readers for supporting me on my journey thus far.

In case you didn't know, Clutch Magazine has become one of the leading online magazines for multicultural women ages 18-34.

Happy Thanksgiving....

Hello All...Just a quick note to wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!  I will be with my family and in the kitchen all day cooking up a storm, watching football and the Macy's parade.

But I will be back tomorrow because as we all know, Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year!  And this year in particular I think will have the best deals because the malls are EMPTY.  So stay tuned for a beauty shopping guide ;-)

Ch-Ch-Ch Changes...

Okay ladies....I hear you on the TB content, you prefer original stuff.  I did a poll a while back and most of you said you didn't care either way but now I am getting comments saying that that the site is "unreadable" and that "you were removing your bookmark" and "you won't be back".  Wow...harsh. You do understand that I do this for free right???  I pay for this blog out of my own pocket...I don't charge you a subscription fee. 

On another note, I am moving the site to it's own domain, so things will be changing.  The site will look different, and hopefully be more functional.  Not sure when the move will happen, but most likely before the end of the year.

The Fate of Milwaukee Fashion Week...

I have been getting many emails about this so I wanted to say something.  As of yesterday, Milwaukee Fashion Week has in fact, been canceled.  I was really looking forward to participating in such a great concept.  Unfortunately due to "unfufilled financial commitments", the show was unable to continue.  I support Hillary Fry who came up with the concept.  It was a great idea, I am all for "growing where you are planted" but it has now become clear that she needed more help with planning to execute the show.

Hopefully, after she re-evaluates she will be able to start again.  I think it's a wonderful idea for other communities to have their own fashion week, but people need to understand that putting on a fashion week takes an incredible amount of time, resources  and planning.  There are people from every corner of America that are undiscovered talents in makeup, hair and fashion design.  They deserve to have their spring board to success.  I know that if I had that avenue growing up in St. Louis it would have proven indispensable to me.

Here's to hoping Hillary and others across the country don't give up.

I'm at Blog World in Las Vegas....

Hey Babies!!  I'm at Blog World in Las Vegas...with Commission Videos,   If you are here, please stop by!  My colleague Ricky from Bark+Bite is also here.  Last night we went to Bare a very sexy pool lounge at the Mirage Hotel.  On the way there when we left the hotel we ran into OJ Simpson, yeah you heard me...OJ.  That was fun.

Anyway...I'll be back to talk about beauty later and if you are here in Vegas for the conference, stop by and say hi.  I'm in booth 217.

Milwaukee Fashion Week is ON!!

Hey babies!  The website for Milwaukee Fashion Week is now live so you can go check it out and see what's what.  The tenative schedule is up and it looks like Shake Your Beauty Mama Tia is doing a reading AND a book signing (woooo!!) 

If you are in the Milwaukee area (or close enough to get there by car etc. I would REALLY try and come.  There are going to be so many great workshops and some VIP stuff happening for SURE! A beauty/fashion junkie's paradise!

Milwaukee Fashion Week...

I have been waiting to write about this because I wanted to make sure that everything was confirmed first!   How about these apples...yours truly along with Tia Williams of Shake Your Beauty and Shannon Nelson of A Girl's Gotta Spa and Makeup Minute are going to be on a Blogger Panel for Milwaukee Fashion Week, which kicks off October 6, 2008.  The events will be held at the GORGEOUS Milwaukee Art Museum. 

The event is being put together by Hillary Fry who is the owner and creator of Solessence one of my FAVORITE body lines EVER.  Hillary has single handedly put together what I think will be a really great event!  It's called 3 mentors and the mentors are none other than Billy B., Syd Curry and Lawrence Zarian!  They will hold an array of daytime workshops and an evening runway event featuring the mentor's work.  Not sure when the blogger panel is but as we get closer I will post a schedule.  If you live in Milwaukee or are near enough to come I highly suggest it as it is going to be FIERCE.

It is such an honor to be participating with these beauty and fashion greats!
